Shahadah
Believe in one god (Allah) and his messenger (Muhammad saw)
“Islam is built on five pillers: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, giving zakah, performing Hajj, and fasting Ramadan.”
(Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)
Salah
Praying five times daily
“Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers at fixed times.”
(Qur’an 4:103)
Zakat
Giving charity (zakat)
“No wealth decreases because of charity. Allah only increases a servant in honor when he forgives others, and whoever humbles himself for Allah, Allah raises him.”
(Sahih Muslim)
Sawm
Fasting during Ramadan
“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may become righteous.”
(Qur’an 2:183)
Hajj
Performing hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca) if able to
“Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of Allah and does not commit any obscenity or wrongdoing will return as pure (free from sins) as the day his mother gave birth to him.”
(Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)
